Default After playing Blade and Soul for a while

I keep thinking how this game does so much right and well.

This game has an awesome and detailed amount of information from players that were very very dedicated. With B&S it's lacking and much of it is pulled from Asian sites and players. Here on this forum we have wealth of math and players that could figure stuff out. I still don't know the difference between bleeding and poison or how it works in that game.

Conditions are cooler in Guild Wars... Deep Wound messes up more than just healing, but can be used to assist spikes.

Roles that don't exist in most other games. I mean condition spreading mesmers and condition spamming rangers? Mesmer itself is still unique?

I can't tell you how much I miss seeing what other players or foes are casting or using.

How well this game plays with loads of stuff going on. NCsoft games not by Anet are Unreal Engine based and don't take advantage of multi-core processors. You can have the most amazing expensive gaming rig and you'll still have patato frame rates of 5-15 when stuff happens. I don't recall that back for Guild Wars.

Freedom to play badly and learn from it. You have skill trees to pick from, but even without investing points into them...you'll still have a basic set up where you aren't bad based on your skill set. Guild Wars has some simple button mashing moment and meta builds that are easily shared, but you still did what you wanted to and gave a great sense of progression.

Mesmer is one of the most unique and amazing concepts in Guild Wars.

Creating a character that had the utility to stop offense or to help break through defense by the means of timing rather than brute force is really unmatched.

Weapon skins are sooo much better in this game. They're not goofy and overdone. Fancy, but often times still more realistic. Most Blade and Soul weapons have loads of stuff on them and look like they came out of a plastic action figure box.

Frankly, referring to it simply as "timing" is selling them short. That may certainly be the case in PvE, but in PvP it's as much - if not more so - about the mental aspects. A recently posted Mesmers in RA guide on reddit highlights some of the ways good players use anticipation and such to get into the heads of their opponents. Getting to experience that is nearly enough to pry me away from smashing people in the face.

NB: I'm sure you're aware of this personally, just providing discussion.

Of course!

Timing is a very simple blunt way to summarize the complexity involved in combining using Mesmer skills along with practice of anticipation, knowledge of how your team needs to maneuver, how you think the enemy will maneuver, and of course natural reaction time skill.

And yeah, some of the biggest things people don't understand about an experienced mesmer is if they have a good enough understanding of your team and have the available interupts, they will spam them at a certain time on a monk because they know if that monk does not heal, something will happen to their team i.g. death.

I wouldn't mind seeing some more realistic designs especially that of the Vikings.
